The following scenario provides a few strategies for remaining current with product and service changes.

You are one of the supervisors of a restaurant. The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. seven days a week. Over the course of all shifts, there are many changes to the menu, pricing, staff, etc. You and the other two supervisors are frustrated because it is impossible to know what changes have been made when you come on shift. You decide to put in place a few strategies to keep everyone informed.

  • Establish a central file and database.

  • Create a communication log.
    Create a communication log so that each supervisor records changes, such as new staff hired, new wines with the attached product brochure, upcoming events, etc.

  • Meet with suppliers.
    Meet with suppliers at the beginning of each season to discuss new trends and products so that the restaurant can stay up-to-date.
