Hopefully Homeless Nation can achieve it’s intended purpose.

As human’s we are all just looking for love and acceptance – a place to belong. It is that way with people who live on the streets too. People are surprised to find out that there are street dweller’s who are, by choice, homeless. I recently saw a big banner at Oppenhiemer Park in Vancouver that said
Homelessness is not a crime
It is difficult to exchange perceptions with those that are different than us. Judgement and self-righteousness are typical reactions to homelessness.
Is there a way to listen to the homeless and really hear things from their side of the street?
I was thrilled to find out about a fairly new website called Homeless Nation. It won both the Canadian New Media Award (CNMA) and the Society for New Communications Research (SNCR) Award for Excellence in New Communications Award for New Media Creation/Social Media Production.
This is a super way for everyone to be heard or at least informed. The thing i wonder, however, is how many truly homeless will use or even see this website? What has been done to promote it? What about the technical barrier’s of a site like this? I mean i have a computer and know how to sign up/navigate a social media site but not everyone does. How can we help the homeless be inspired to have their free voice without technical and accessible barriers?
I am hoping that what Chris Brogan says is correct “Homeless Nation Gives a Digital Place to The Displaced“.
